Hail season in North Texas runs roughly from March through June, peaking in April and May. The Dallas Fort Worth area sits in one of the most hail prone corridors in the country, so most years bring at least one significant hail event.
Why the Dallas area gets so much hail
North Texas sits where warm, moist air from the Gulf collides with cold fronts dropping down from the plains. That clash is the perfect recipe for the severe thunderstorms that produce large hail, and it puts the Dallas Fort Worth area on the edge of what is often called hail alley.
